IPR's Points North - Governing Ourselves

Bob Russell, the co-director of the Neahtawanta Center, was on Interlochen Public Radio's Points North, hosted by Peter Payette on March 12, 2010.

As described by host Peter Payette --

It's common these days to hear people say our state and federal systems of governance are broken. Lansing can't balance a budget and the debate in Washington over healthcare is not what you'd call productive. But how much better do we do governing ourselves at the local level? Are we able to solve community problems like affordable housing, traffic and crowded jails? How many blue ribbon committees and task forces actually result in progress around here? This was the discussion on Points North March 12, 2010.
